ACADEMIC RECOVERY PROGRAM

We know failing grades, academic probation, and the threat of suspension or dismissal is a stressful and scary time for students and families. The financial and life impacts are huge and finding true, experienced help feels impossible.

Our coaches have extensive experience navigating the complexities of academic probation to guide your student and help them off academic probation and back in good standing. Not only is the weight lifted, but they learn resilience, self confidence, and independence through the process.

How is Academic Recovery Different from Your Other Programs?

Higher Emotional Stakes
  • Students often feel shame, anxiety, and fear about their academic standing
  • Coaches must provide specialized emotional support and help rebuild confidence before academic strategies can take root.
Urgency and Accountability

  • There’s often a tight timeline to improve GPA and avoid suspension or loss of financial aid. We will make sure the requirements are met within the time frame required.
  • Academic Recovery Program includes more frequent check-ins, progress tracking, and clear short-term goals. It has the option of giving permission for the coach to access the portal outside of typical sessions in order to provide an even higher level of planning, tracking, and accountability.
  • Expanded parent onboarding so grades, academic standing, and financial aid requirements can be addressed immediately.
  • Coach will personally review all requirements and processes with the university to ensure compliance and success.
More Structured Support

  • Probation students may need more direct coaching at first - more detailed and specific prioritizing, breaking down assignments, and managing overwhelm.
  • Coaches often review grades and assignments at every session to catch issues early.
  • Degree tracker is a part of all planning and decision making to make sure students are choosing classes and credits that are most appropriate and effective for their goals.
  • Coach will personally communicate with professors, university administrators, and resource offices to assist student in remediation, meeting expectations, and choosing courses or transfer classes. Coach also follows up to hold student accountable.
  • Coach will guide and assist student with potential options for credit recovery including identifying community college or online resources. Coach will help student register, research transferability and process, and ensure process is completed with home school.
  • Coach will assist student and family with appeal process and alternate grading options.
Focus on Foundational Skills

  • Emphasis on executive function basics: time management, planning, task initiation, and follow-through initially as they relate to the overwhelm and stress of the high stakes situation.
  • This often includes more direct and specific study skills, test prep, and academic self-advocacy.
  • Coach will assist student in choosing classes that impact GPA while keeping content intensive courses balanced.
Family Communication

  • We know this is also a very stressful and anxious time for parents, so coaches often provide more frequent updates and reassurance.
More Than Just One Semester

  • Students may feel like they’ve “failed” or that they’re not capable. This program puts priority on reframing setbacks, building a growth mindset, and helping students see probation as a turning point - not a dead end.
  • Credit recovery supportalso available during summer and winter terms to maximize progress in recovering standing. Help looking into state universities and community colleges for more affordable courses.

  • We offer unlimited, private messaging in our portal. Students can reach out to their coach when they need support, not wait until next time they meet, falling further behind.

How Are Coaches Assigned?

  • After you enroll, we will send both a parent and student onboarding form through email. Once those are complete, we will narrow down our coaches to 2-3 that really fit your student’s needs and have a proven success record with those, fit their personality, and times they prefer coaching. Each of our coaches have a bio about themselves and their picture ~ we will send those most qualified coaches' bios to your student and they get to choose their own coach!

  • We have senior, specialty coaches uniquely experienced and trained to ensure student success with academic probation requirements.

  • You know you are getting the most qualified coach, but we empower students to choose who they want to work with.

  • It does not happen often, but we are always happy to switch your student's coach if they feel they are not a good fit. It is as easy as asking for new choices!
